MEN'S FASHION WEEK

I will not disclose the number of times I have watched the video of Louis Vuitton Men's Spring 2016 show. The models have an energy that is both beautiful and slightly disarming, just as it should be. I want to talk about the bomber jackets in this collection for the next century. The fabrics that LV Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquiere used for the pieces in this show do an excellent job of conveying fashion's current mood: androgynous and nostalgic. While trends repeat in a cyclical pattern (ahem, flared jeans) and styles are inspired from the past, one thing is certain. Menswear is vital to women's fashion. Let's discuss, shall we? Men's fashion week tends to fly under the radar in comparison to the media onslaught that 'women's' fashion week receives. Perhaps because the media can sell a story on Gigi Hadid better than they can sell one on Jordan Barrett. Luckily, my agenda is not the media's agenda and I am free to frolic throughout the world of menswear for as long as I so desire.
It warms my heart to see a man of any age with a head-to-toe look that is both fashionable and put together. I am pleased when a man has put time and consideration into his look. Whether he is headed to the office or to the grocery store, he cares about how he is presenting himself to the public. On more than one occasion, I have stared far too long at a man's pair of loafers or derby shoes while on the metro. Briefcases that have been treated like a child and cuff links that adorn an ironed button-down are inspiring to me. Any man can throw on a suit and tie with ease, but it takes an eye for aesthetic to tend to the details. This same eye for detail is applied to casual wear. I think it is common for men to play it a bit too casual when it comes to everyday looks. To all of my guys out there who think that fashion isn't for you, this couldn't be further from the truth. You make a conscious fashion decision each day when you put on an outfit. A good rule of thumb is to avoid wearing gym clothes if you're not going to the gym. PERIOD. Leave the Under Armour shorts at home and opt for a clean and crisp tailored short for the summer months. Take pride in how you present yourself in public.
You only receive the respect that your outfit commands.
