Houzz + Minimalism

I am a minimalist. My clothes, my belongings and my interior decorating all exhibit my love of less.  Every time I walk into a room that is not my own, I visualize what it would look like with a fraction of the decorations and/or clutter. I want to actually see a room rather than getting distracted by too many colors and patterns in the decorations. Although I am biased to minimalism, I still get inspired by a variety of different styles. One of my favorite places to go for interior design ideas is Houzz. I have the app on my iPhone and I often find myself browsing through room after beautiful room, taking note of what I like and do not like.

I have moved three times this summer alone (including my 5-week stay in Milano) and each time I have been forced to downsize my belongings. I am certain this constant change in location is simply to prepare me for my future (tiny) apartment in Manhattan. I am thankful that I can be honest with myself when it comes to decorating and organizing. Anyone close to me will confirm that I am not a sentimental person therefore I have saved beaucoup de space by not holding on to any keepsake-y items. To me, stuff is stuff. I don't need nicknacks to remind me of the moments in life that are dear to me. I have memories for that! This mindset makes minimalist decorating a breeze. Drop me an email to share your decorating tips with me as I am settling into my new college apartment and in the mean time, don't forget to check out Houzz.com for endless inspiration.
