Books To Read Right Now

I absolutely love cracking open a great book and letting it consume me for a few days. It is so relaxing to unwind from a long day with something easy and enjoyable to read. It's important to read on a regular basis and I encourage everyone to make time to do so.

I am currently committed to my textbooks which means I have little time to read for pleasure and trust me, there is nothing pleasing about a drab textbook. However, when I do read I have a few go-tos that I highly recommend.

These books mean a lot to me and I don't suggest them lightly. I really hope you read at least one of these because I guarantee it will change your life in the same way it did mine. They are fun, informative and absolutely inspiring books that are perfect to start reading before the holiday season!

The Woman I Wanted To Be by Diane von Furstenberg

My mom gave me this book as a Christmas present last year and I read it in one day. I was hooked from the very beginning with words so honest, dynamic and empowering - just like DVF herself.

She reveals everything she has gone through that lead her to the top of the fashion industry where she continues to evolve and innovate herself and her brand in a way that motivates young girls and women to do the very same.

DVF holds nothing back in this delightfully revealing book that reflects on a life of substance, fulfillment, and creativity.

Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht

I have followed Aliza Licht on social media for a few years where she has inspired me to work harder and harder in the field of public relations. I read her book this summer during my Metro commute into DC for my PR internship.

It was wonderfully inspiring and I felt as if she was sitting beside me each day encouraging me to push myself to reach the top.

This book isn't just for PR girls like me - I recommend it for anyone who is looking to improve his or her career skills to secure a future job or to improve at the job you currently do.

This book doesn't feel like a pep talk or a motivation speech. It feels like a mentorship.

Coco Chanel: An Intimate Life by Lisa Chaney

This book is the reason why I cut my hair and the reason why I wear black. Lisa Chaney takes you into the life of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel to provide the most intimate look at the icon's life ever written.

Chanel had absolutely nothing and she worked extremely hard to strategically rise to the top of the fashion industry as one of the most influential women in history.

I can't reiterate just how amazing this book is to read. I never grow tired of it and I find myself learning more each time I read it.

It doesn't matter if you have $10 or $10,000 in your bank account - you will benefit from reading about Chanel's struggles and obstacles as she climbed to the top in pursuit of her passion.

How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are by Anne Berest, Audrey Diwan, Caroline De Maigret, Sophie Mas

I fell in love with Paris when I read the Madeline books as a child. I visited Paris four times, the first time when I was 14 years old. I am glad these authors have created a book that I can use as a reference whenever I'm craving the City of Light lifestyle that I have adored my whole life.

I couldn't stop reading this book once I started. It immediately pulled me in with genius tips and tricks to improve my outer appearance, and meaningful advice to improve my inner appearance.

The book covers everything from what textiles you should avoid when buying clothes to what you should do on a first date.

You'll fall in love with Paris more and more with every page you turn.

Lessons From Madame Chic by Jennifer L. Scott

I first read this book when I was in my second year of high school when I felt uninspired and out of place. When I read this book, Jennifer L. Scott instantly became the fabulous, confident and loyal best friend that I needed.

I was enthralled with the tips Scott took away after spending time in Paris. She covers topics like what to have for dinner, what to wear to bed, what silverware to use.

This book is what you've been meaning to remember to do for years, now it's time to do them all. Madame Chic will transform your day-to-day routine in the most fabulous way.
